How to keep bangs/ fringe looking perfect with an oily forehead

Bangs and an oily forehead are generally not a good mix, having hair over your face can increase oiliness and result in greasy gross hair. With a bit of effort it is possible to avoid this.

don't let this picture fool you, my forehead could join OPEC

Start with your skin by applying an oil reducing primer or lotion. I'm fond of Clean and Clear Finishes Mattifying Moisturizer because it is not overly drying. After applying my makeup I finish it off with a mattifying powder like Fyrinnae Fluff, Mattify Cosmetics Mattify Ultra, Maybelline Dream Matte, etc. This will help keep the oil at bay for as long as possible.

Next, it's prepping the hair. If your hair is already greasy it's best to wash it, if not move along. My "secret weapon" of sorts is Fyrinnae Fluff, it's a silica powder for your face but I like to powder my bangs with it. It keeps them looking fresh ALL DAY with out the white cast that dry shampoo gives. Even when my forehead has become an oil slick Fluff helps protect my bangs from absorbing it.

Speaking of which, it is inevitable that your face will regain its oily shine eventually even after all this prep work. Blotting papers are one of the best solutions as they actually remove the oil from the skin. They are rather cheap and pretty easy to come by as well. After blotting away as much oil as possible I re-powder with whatever mattifying powder I have available (usually the now discontinued but amazing Hard Candy one since it lives in my purse).

While conventional wisdom says you can't have bangs with an oily face I say go for it if you really want them.

Fyrinnae Parental Advisory Old VS New

I've been meaning to compare them for ages but I am lazy...

Parental Advisory is one of my favorite Fyrinnae shadows! It's an ultra bright slightly blue based purple with pink sparks, very pretty and lovely. Unfortunately I only had a sample sized one (very small amount) and it was discontinued and gone before I realized it so I hoarded it away like a precious gem. I believe this lovely left our world due to the ingredients being discontinued by the supplier.

Luckily this one has risen from the grave with a new formula. I will now compare the two. They are almost identical and Fyrinnae did a great job recreating it.

Heavy Red Vol. 2

The original "Heavy Red" look was bright red lips and dark blue eyeshadow (covered with pointed shades because the sun was trying very hard to scald my eyes to dust that day). This is a very similar look but I think it's a lot better, especially with the lips...

The Mystic's Kiss REMIX

I was determined to get that vampy dark purple...

To get that color I started with Fyrinnae Diabolic Masquerade (blackened red), added a drop of Fyrinnae Fan Service (lavender) then finished it off with L'oreal The Mystic's Kiss (berry).

lip liner is a necessity with Fyrinnae Lip Lusters

A bit too much work for going out but nice none the less.

LOTD- Rainbow

Decided to try my hand at rainbow eyeliner. It's such a simple yet bold look and it's really easy to do. I was able to do this whole look with just two brushes in less than 10 minutes.

EOTD- blak n blu

I started this look with a base of Too Faced Shadow Insurance then a coat of NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk in the shape that I wanted to do.

I used Wet n Wild coloricon shadow in Panther (it's a matte black) to start the winged liner.

Above it I applied Hi Fi Cosmetics Super Sonic Overdrive (a bright blue that is slightly metallic when foiled).

At the outer V around the black I applied Sugarpill Afterparty (bright medium blue with low shimmer).

Above Super Sonic Overdrive I applied Meow Cosmetics Telepathy (super shimmery blue/green shift highlight).

Over the black shadow I applied Jordana Semi-Permanent Liquid Liner, and here's where it got ugly. I can not handle liquid liner. I don't know why this is but if I try to use it I will, no matter what, make a Huge. Ugly. Mess... and sure enough I did.

Any way, I continued with the look by foiling the blue shadows using Medusa's Makeup sealant. I then foiled Super Sonic Overdrive over the Jordana liner. Then I foiled Fyrinnae La Noche (metallic navy blue) over the Jordana liner and this pretty much evened it out to a point where it looked presentable.

Finished it up with a black liner on the water line and my newest love, Revlon Photoready 3D volume mascara. The formula isn't anything revolutionary, it's the brush. It has bristles on the tip of the wand! This makes it sooooooo easy to get the little lashes in the corner and to apply extra mascara at the base of the lashes for increased volume.

Sugarpill Heartbreaker

Getting back to business...
I love the new Sugarpill Heartbreaker palette. The colors are so bright and summery and super pretty. I have not yet used the purple shade 2 am because I am currently obsessed with doing this look:

Fyrinnae Bifrost in the inner corner blended into Sugarpill Acidberry and then Sugarpill Mochi in the outer V. Sugarpill Velocity applied wet with Medusa's Makeup eyeliner sealant as the liner on top of the lid and the waterline.

Lips are Shiro 40 Cakes.

I find that the colors in this palette are a bit softer than the single pressed shadows I have from SP. They are easier to blend as a result (I love Poison Plum but sometimes this one can be a bitch to blend).

ALSO... I HATE TRYING TO MAKE A POST IN THE NEW BLOGGER WTF ARRRG

Fyrinnae Ultra Phantom

Knocked another off the ol' wish list... this is only my second Lip Lustre and I have to say I am in love. The formula for these things is amazing, so comfortable to wear. LLs are not glosses or lipsticks but something in between. They're basically a cream. The only problem I have with mine is they're hard to use when cold. I keep mine in my pocket instead of my purse when I plan on wearing it all day.

Ultra Phantom is described as a pink- blue duochrome. It's definitely more blue than pink on my end. It's sheer and full of superfine micro glitter so it's perfect for layering! It gives a great icy glow when used on top of other lip colors. Due to the slight pink duochrome it looks especially great over light pink lipstick.

Skin Food Red Bean BB Cream Review

I have been wanting to try a BB cream for years but I could not find one close to my skin tone. My skin is very pale and pink, most BB creams tend to be too dark and either too yellow or too grey. I looked for ages, read lots of reviews, looked at lots of swatches and then gave up. It wasn't until last month that I started looking again and found one that might just look passable on my face!

Pretty much everyone already knows what BB cream is, but for the people that don't it's kind of supposed to be a miracle product. Face makeup that multitasks and saves time but also improves skin condition. LOL YEAH RIGHT... I know, it sounds crazy.  BB stands for blemish balm (or "beblesh" balm in the case of Skin79), basically it's supposed to help get rid of blemishes. BB cream is supposed to also take the place of moisturizer, primer, sunscreen and foundation. Some do other things such as skin lightening, anti-aging, etc. Basically it's supposed to be awesomesauce for your face.

I bought my Skin Food Red Bean BB Cream off Ebay from a Korean seller for about $20 and paid only $2 for shipping. The bottle is 45 ml so it's a pretty good price. The front sticker is completely in English and gives the product name and SPF 20 PA+. The back sticker gives a small blurb in English that says the shade (mine is #1, it only comes in two) and explains what kind of BB cream it is. Red Bean is supposed to be moisturizing with buildable coverage. The rest of the back is all in Korean and I have no idea what it says. I looked around for a translation but couldn't find one. All I can gather is it has some kind of red bean extract among countless other ingredients.

Blue Sunday

EOTD and swatch comparisons with Black Rose Minerals

Hi-Fi Cosmetics Super Sonic Overdrive in the inner corner
Black Rose Minerals Larkspur on the lid
Black Rose Minerals Nobodies in the crease and outer V and as liner
Fyrinnae Chrome on the outer edge

 WITH FLASH

Far left: Sugarpill Afterparty
Middle: BRM Larkspur

Top right: MAC Deep Truth
Bottom right: BRM Nobodies

WITHOUT FLASH

As you can see Larkspur is more metallic than Afterparty. It's also a tiny bit lighter and more green. Deep Truth and Nobodies look a lot alike with out flash, but look very different with it in the first picture. Nobodies has a lot more sparkle, you can see some of the green and aqua reflects in the shot with out flash. Deep Truth likes to blend out  black due to the iron oxide but Nobodies stays more blue and true to color.

Old EOTDs

This EOTD is absolutely ancient! I think it must be from around 2006. The colors used are Fryrinnae OMGWTF in the inner corner then Makeup Enigma Starburst and finally Medusa's Makeup Purple Rain in the outer V.
This is from when I first started getting into eye makeup. I only owned one makeup brush (the small shadow brush from Medusa's Makeup) at the time and didn't have primer. I used a Hot Topic brand paint pot and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. Gotta say, those Hot Topic paint pots worked wonders, I got no creasing when used with PE.

Brows are courtesy of Bare Minerals Coffee Bean.

Primer is Too Faced Shadow Insurance with Pixie Epoxy on top.
This is more recent, from last year I believe. If I remember correctly Hi-Fi Cosmetics Super Sonic Overdrive is the liner, applied wet. The Lid color is Hi-Fi Live Large with Medusa's Jail Bait lightly dusted on top. Purple is Medusa's Purple Rain (one of my favorite shadows).

Fyrinnae Javan Rhino and a Mary Kay Grey

Same look with pink, Medusa's Jail Bait if I remember correctly.

This is a look I wore almost daily in 2008. Barry M Cherry Red cut crease with Medusa's Purple Rain.

The Blue in this is Medusa's Blue Balls. The other color I'm not sure about because it's a mix. I think I used a L'oreal HiP duo-Platinum 906 (both the black and silver) with Purple Rain.

Fyrinnae Koala in the inner corner, Fyrinnae Parental Advisory in the outer V. Parental Advisory is gorgeous, I wish I had gotten a full size instead of a mini. I will CRY when I run out!

This gradient look was done with pink, purple and black. Aromaleigh Sonic Rocks eyeshadow in Teenage Kicks is the pink in this look. The purple is... you guessed it, Purple Rain. The black is from the L'oreal HiP duo.

This was done as a guest look for Le Gothique. A purple smokey eye. The liner is Wet and Wild gel liner.
Eyes: Fryrinnae herbivore, Medusa's Purple Rain, Mary Kay (grey), Makeup Enigma Black Lipstick

Lips: Revlon Silver City Pink
